First day cont.

Abhilasha:

Yes we had started.

We had not actually completely planned on what to do once we reach there. But then we reached and - I guess we already knew what we had to do. Alas we had waited 6 months to get to that FIRST experience. When we had first thought of the idea, things seemed a bit difficult. All sought of pessimism always comes in when we venture into a new field. But hey that was an aside - I guess what was important is that we had begun. Anshu was with her group - No points for guess's there. The kiddo's (Tiny one's) just seem to be perfect with her :-)

Keshav, Ankit, Neelmani, Mehreen and I were up on the front with a football and making the kids be interested in the game (And well indirectly with us!). Occasionally some of us also tried to contact with their parents and other biggies around in order to get a feel of what the kiddos do the day long. We played a football and chain - chain. They also taught us a new game "Current Pani". That was certainly fun. Even though it was a more of breaking the ice session, kids were enjoying with us and that felt great. Some of our initial doubts certainly got brushed away.

The kids had already visited many more places than I had. There parents were contract laborer's who most generally had one year contracts with institute's like ours and thus no stable household. Education thus was a problem. Even though some of them had enrolled in schools in the previous places, getting enrolled again once you shift to a new place is a problem. These and some of the other interactions with the kids made it possible for us to set some of our agenda's.

All in all the first day - we played and talked. It was really a wonderful experience. It was not like the" Wow we are doing something for someone" feeling. It was a more of "We are beginning to realize what we should be doing and are enjoying along the way"

Towards the end we were a hell lot tired (exams had gotten over the day before and who sleeps the night after exams? :-)). When we were about to leave, some of them came and asked us "when would we come again?"

That brought a smile to my face. This is what (I realized) satisfaction was all about.
